For TESL, it is meant to train teachers or trainers for english language in which the course emphasizes on ELT methodology as well as enhancing the students' proficiency in english. Apart from that,students are required to take a combination of literature subjects such as writing about literature, poetry, prose, drama, Shakespeare on screen, language of literature and texts for school. It is aimed at giving the students an exposure on literary area for them to teach in school after graduation. This course, on the other hand, requires the students to go for teaching practice in school for one semester to expose the students with the school's atmosphere and its daily routine. In UM, the students are required to do an academic writing which is known as mini thesis in partial fulfillment of the requirements of the degree of Bachelor of Education (TESL). This is the only distinct that differs UM from other universities that uphold the standard of quality education in line with its tag line "research university" that enables the students to explore more in research, and thus, preparing the students with a platform for the higher degree such as Master and Doctorate. The career prospect is broader in the sense that the graduates can market themselves in variety of fields and not only limited to being a teacher.
